When I first heard about the impeding deal, I thought to myself- there is no way any Private Equity firm can pull this LBO off smoothly (And I’m not talking liquidity or credit). This isn’t another manufacturing company that just makes and sells any stuff. This is technology: A sector that changes faster than any executive can divorce their Xth wife. If they need to pull this off, they have to be innovative as f**k or forget about it. You can’t apply formula’s and models to create innovation or fix the lack thereof.
And then I read this article, that they were thinking Michael Dell can take care of the innovation problem- I giggled. Steve Jobs has everybody fooled.
Where is my broker, I need to short some dell stocks- oh wait, dang it, they are going private.
